General Conference Preparations…

Just thought I’d quickly share how the preparations are going for the LDS General Conference weekend here in our home… in case you wanted/needed any ideas or encouraging. 🙂  {And in case you missed it, check out last week’s post about fun Conference Activities and Packets you can use to keep the kiddos entertained and involved during Conference! Click HERE.}

Yesterday we made our tree trunk for The Happy Fall Tree and at Family Night we talked with our girls about General Conference and why it’s so special and some of the fun things they get to look forward to this weekend. Here’s a peek at our family’s Happy Fall Tree (sans leaves, of course)…

And here’s some of my checklist items to do this week…

My To Do/Done List:

  • Create trunk for the Happy Fall Tree (done); print out leaves for the kiddos (done)
  • Print out packets for the kiddos (still to do)
  • Purchase items to update 72-hour kits (yup… it’s that time again too!)
  • Organize and shop for the Conference Weekend Menu

My Conference Weekend Menu (so far, anyway):

Saturday Morning: Perfectly Wonderful Cinnamon Rolls (from The Sisters Cafe) {side note: I tried giving these a test run and I think I killed my yeast by adding the milk/butter mixture while it was still too hot because these never rose. *sad* But the recipe has such rave reviews that I’m going to be brave and try it again, despite my previous failure. :)} and Fruit Bowls (just some cut up strawberries, apples, oranges, and bananas).

Saturday Special Snacks: {We generally do enough snacking through Conference that we don’t really need an official lunch, so I’m just adding some ‘special snacks’ that I want to include each day} Cream Cheese and Bacon Stuffed Crescents (from Kraft); and some Strawberry Fruit Smoothies

Saturday Evening Dinner: Honey-Lime Chicken Enchiladas (from The Sisters Cafe) and Lemon Rice (also from The Sisters Cafe)

Sunday Morning: Banana Pancakes (from with Coconut Syrup (from The Sisters Cafe) {this is a heart attack waiting to happen so we ONLY make this on special occasions… but worth. every.bite. :)}

Sunday Special Snacks: Pumpkin Pie Milkshakes (from Our Best Bites)

Sunday Evening Dinner: Roast Beef with potatoes and carrots (done in a crockpot); Easy Dinner Rolls; and a yummy fruity jello.

How are your preparations going? Hopefully this helped kick start some ideas if they were having troubles getting started on their own. 😉 I hope you enjoy your weekend!!
