Feature Friday: Vertical Gardens!

Well, Springtime has long been underway here in Texas (and we’re marching right on in to Summer for that matter!) which means we’re about right in the middle of gardening season as well. However, I know that for a lot of the country, gardening season is just about to start. And since we won’t get to talk much about gardening this year (bummer! but we’re still covering our food storage basics), I wanted to feature this AWESOME idea I came across…

Say hello to vertical gardens!

Hello! ๐Ÿ™‚ This idea came from someone in the UK trying to solve a problem with cats digging into the garden bed, but this is also a superb idea for people who are short on space (i.e. live in an apartment, or have little to no yard) but still would like to grow a garden. …or if you just plain like the look of it! ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway, you can click here for instructions and details on putting it all together including what types of things to grow. Some of the comments also mention things about how this is good for insulating your home if you put it on an outdoor wall that receives a lot of sun. I’m suddenly having grandiose images of my entire home covered in wall-to-wall vegetables. ๐Ÿ˜€ haha!

Well, enjoy your weekend and happy gardening to you all!

Love the look of this! (I just wish I had a cute little Anne of Green Gabels house and yard to go with the cozy look!) I think it would be a great way to grow your herbs for cooking.
